THE FATE OF WEST BENGAL

🕉 West Bengal must not be allowed to progressively precipitate into Arab culture. We must propagate our Indian spiritual culture, foster our age-old heritage and tradition dating back millenia, that of the Sanatan Dharma which is the essence of all that India stands for.

The daily enforcement of Islam into our system through the five-time loudspeaker Azaan is oppressive for us, Hindus, who do not subscribe to the tenets of Islam or to the Islamic way of life. It is not at all healthful for kafirs (infidels) like us to be told that Allah is the greatest God and the only one to be worshipped because such exclusiveness goes against the very spirit of secularism guaranteed in our Constitution.

Loudspeakers are by legal order prohibited from sounding beyond certain set time limits. Yet this is violated day in and day out, night in and night out. Is this not 'Contempt of Court'? Moreover, the sound, other than being disturbing to citizens and causing inefficiency in work periodically, is also a subtle and somewhat oppressive way of proselytising on behalf of Islam which goes against the secular grain of the Constitution. Hindu interests must also be safeguarded and such intrusion into our peace disallowed.

If a student is studying or writing his or her examination paper, if an old grandfather or grandmother is sleeping in the early hours of the morning (refer to the pre-dawn Azaan for Fajr), if a medical surgeon is operating on his or her patient in the Operation Theatre, if a college professor is delivering a lecture to his or her students, what right do these Muezzins have in disturbing them in their respective functions with full governmental backing that violates democratic norms, secular principles and, most importantly, Court order?

I leave you all to consider the near and not-so-near consequences of this loud call to Islamic prayer in a secular country and in quickened consciousness raise your collective voice against this sonic menace. May democracy, decency and civic decorum be preserved in this increasingly theocratically perverted province of India which, if it continues to thus thrive unimpeded with full governmental backing, will soon see the theocratic consequences of Bangladesh and Pakistan, the mutilated limbs of Mother India which were born by a bloodbath in Bengal ! 🕉
