WHAT I DO BELIEVE IN

WHAT I DO BELIEVE IN

My statement that both Bangladesh and West Bengal must be wedded together in a bond of love issuing from the mother-heart of the Holy Trinity of Sri Ramakrishna, Sri Sarada Devi and Swami Vivekananda has been made from the long-term civilisational perspective where society overtime, perhaps in centuries, will outgrow these present maladies to evolve into a more human order that shall be governed by peace, love and mutual cooperation just as man from the brute had first evolved. In the short-term the prospects, as have been duly pointed out, are bleak. But we can undo wrongs done us by past and present governments and by social and religious institutions if we unite in collective, conscientious, cooperative action. We must, for our future, our security, our well-being depend on our present endeavours.

To begin with we must propagate the teachings of Swami Vivekananda far and wide, steadily, vigorously, with unflinching faith in its efficacy and with unbounded zeal and a wholesome humanity attending it. We must present Swamiji as he was and as his words were, without editing, altering, censoring or unduly stressing portions to suit our convenience and agenda. Swamiji is the panacea for the Indian subcontinent's divisive disease. He was trained by Sri Ramakrishna for this purpose of creating a new, divine civilization on earth and he fulfilled his Master in equal measure by growing to become what has been aptly affirmed as 'Condensed India'.

So, there is ample reason to hope for and ample scope for translating that hope into living action of harmonic coexistence of brothers 'tending to the same goal'. But our talks and efforts must not be cosmetic but sincere action for bringing about this transformation in the heart of man.
