VIVEKANANDA WAS MUCH CONCERNED ABOUT THE FUTURE SECURITY OF HINDUISM

Vivekananda is not being understood well and is being misrepresented by all. His catholic views, nonetheless, included his concerns for the future survival of Hinduism and this has to be very well understood.

Vivekananda was not unconcerned about the security of the vibrant Hindu civilisation. He full well understood that through conversion to Islam and Christianity the Hindus were decreasing steadily in numbers and this issue consumed his attention a lot. He brooded deep over the potential and real threat to Hinduism at the hands of these proselytising faiths with their stated objective of world-domination through universal conversion.

Vivekananda was dismayed at the numerical decline of the Hindus from the erstwhile 600 million in the estimation of the Mohammedan scholar, Ferishta, to the then (at Vivekananda's time) 200 million. The Swami said that most of the perverts from Hinduism to Islam and Christianity were perverts at the point of the sword. Hence, it is clear that the Swami did not buy the theory that the Hindus were willing converts mainly. He was, evidently, quite of the opposite opinion.

The Swami warned that every person going out of the Hindu pale was not only one friend the less but one enemy the more. This single statement encapsulates the Swami's stance on the issue of conversion of Hindus to Islam and Christianity and needs to be especially noted by those who quote Swamiji to denigrate patriotic Hindus as Muslim-haters and what not. Would they dare say the same thing against the Swami Vivekananda too?

Hibdus, wake up ! Read Swamiji's views on conversion and the return of converts to the Mother-faith. The article is titled ' On the bounds of Hinduism ' and is available online. The link to it is being provided on my timeline just above this piece.
