AN OPEN LETTER IN DISTRESS TO THEY WHO OUGHT TO CARE

AN OPEN LETTER IN DISTRESS TO THEY WHO OUGHT TO CARE

Honourable PM and CM,

Do not allow mobs to take the law into their own hands in the name of religion and play havoc with the people. Stop playing your respective divisive politics that hurts the people of this province and this nation. This is the minimum we can all expect from your esteemed offices.

I am sure human life counts more than anything else for both of you. After all, as the premiere office-bearers of your respective political domains, both of you have a moral duty binding on you --- the protection of the people within your administrative ambit which would mean respectively the Republic of India and the State of West Bengal. Today, people are no more safe in several parts of the same and seek your protection from mob violence. Will you not heed the cries of the afflicted and adopt adequate measures for their personal safety and security? Upon your sympathies they repose faith. Must you fail them? I hope not. In keeping with it I send to you this brief letter on behalf of my people who inhabit this great country of glorious diversity, now under threat from political polarisation being sought to gain divisive electoral gains.

I rest my case here, pledging to myself taking up this crusade for bringing about cultural harmony, peace and understanding.

Thanking you and expecting your quick action in this regard,
Respectfully yours,
Sugata Bose.
