WE, THE PEOPLE OF INDIA ... 24

WE, THE PEOPLE OF INDIA ... 24

Why are people so biased in favour of this party or that party? Is the nation subservient to petty political interest? So, is this what today is to be deemed as patriotism and nationalism which their proponents are clamouring for at the top of their voices?

Has sanity departed from the minds of men cutting across party lines as they vociferously shout out their claims to catering to the national good by whatever irrational means that they may have at their disposal? Indeed, men and women in the high offices of the government ought to exhibit greater character, adherence to truth and not clever manipulations masquerading as such so that the nation of 1.35 billion people may progress towards sufficient subsistence for survival in an otherwise hostile world.

Mere sloganeering will not do nor quotation of false statistics that reveals what is intended and conceals what would shame the government. Statue-breaking and statue-making ought not to consume political time and energy which should be directed to nation-building. Mutual mud-slinging must stop and respectability restored to the political discourse as the nation marches ahead.

But the lights are out and the beacons no more visible through the dense fog that covers vision. Now who will show the path ahead? Who will guide the course of the national ship as it navigates through the turbulent seas through the dark night across uncharted terrain?
