Political gain itself is bad. The only gain in this universe of delusive dreams is the gain of experience for the soul to come out of imaginary bondage and shine resplendent in Self-knowledge. All else is mere humbug, 'the labour of ignorance', as Nivedita puts it, and is the plaything of the Lord as He moves His chessmen across the board of apparent life. Politics itself is the massive delusion into which Mahamaya has entered in Her human manifestation. It necessarily follows that all but the rarest few will through history use alternate means and modes to garner support, inebriated as they are with this cosmic intoxicant of the Mother specially prepared for Her erring children.
