'TIS TWILIGHT YET AGAIN

'TIS TWILIGHT YET AGAIN
A few more breaths
And I'll be gone.
Rest my soul till then.
Sow the seeds
That at dawn shall sprout
And blossom into fruition green.
Life's tale's lost
In fading dreams,
In golden hues that hide.
The dark night spreads
On the drifting eve
And in the vault high up
Shine a billion stars
That tell their tale
Of distant dreams
Whose poets are dead
But their lines remain
In optic beams
That swell through space
And bring home to us
Their griefs so green,
Their joyous songs,
Their deeds divine
Of yesteryears
That have sunk in time
But live on for us
In waves of light,
In dawn's delight.
They have died there
But live on for us
In beating hearts,
In the soft murmer
Of the silent soul
That feels the pulse
Of distant kins,
Dead to time
And yet alive.
So shall I
In silent song
Pass away in a dream.
The embers dead,
Ashes sprayed,
The scented breeze shall carry
Till the dead morrow
Shall bury the dead
And a morn born new
From the dewy dawn
Shall send the beams
To a remote realm,
Away, away, far up in space
Where memories shall reach.
Here on earth
Time will flow
To bury and burn, brother Time.
Our world's far bigger
Than meets the eye,
Far deeper, deeper
Than the widow's sigh.
Our life's not lost
In a springtime gone,
It lives on and on
Unto a distant dawn.
Our dusty path
Is strewn in space,
It marks our way
Till it fades in grace.
But the sunlit beams
They nurse our songs
And spread the tunes
Where love belongs.
The night is up
And dawn's at hand,
My soul shall soar,
My breath shall stand.
Adieu, adieu, my earthly mates,
I drift in peace through freedom's gates.
