FOUNDATION DAY OF RAMAKRISHNA MISSION : 1 MAY, 1897 -- 1 MAY, 2020.

FOUNDATION DAY OF RAMAKRISHNA MISSION : 1 MAY, 1897 -- 1 MAY, 2020.

Our children must not be taught weakening, paralysing left-wing irreverent ideas about our civilisation and its grand recovery in modern times but they must be taught invigorating ideas about their heritage and culture, its response to marauding western inroads and its glorious revitalisation by the grand spiritual duo of Ramakrishna and Vivekananda and all their satellites in conjunction in this movement.

Today is the foundation day of the Ramakrishna Mission, its 123rd anniversary. On this day in 1897 at Balaram Bose's house in Bagbazar at 4 p.m. Swami Vivekananda proposed the formation of the Ramakrishna Mission Association and it was duly seconded. He expounded the aims and objectives of the Mission in the making and delineated the responsibilities of the monastic and lay devotees of the Master in bringing to fruition the grand spiritual mission of the Avatar of Dakshineshwar.

Since then the Ramakrishna Mission has been doing seminal service to humanity, silently, unobtrusively. Its work in national regeneration is now the text of history. But there lies before it a far greater task of rebuilding human hopes the world over through the intense propagation of the message of the Rishis, the Divine Word that has been chronicled in umpteen scriptural texts of hoary India and in the last of those so aptly articulated by the Master and his Messenger from the banks of the Ganga and the Mississippi. Come, let us celebrate this day and, gaining divine inspiration, lend our hands to the rolling of this Wheel of Dharma (Dharmachakra) that was set in motion on 1 May, 1897 by that prince of ascetics, Swami Vivekananda.
