WE, THE PEOPLE ... 1

WE, THE PEOPLE ... 1

As a people we must be disciplined so that we may achieve maximum national progress in the shortest period of time. Our efforts must be coordinated, our wills strengthened and united to bear maximum national yield. Petty bickering we must give up, must not be irreverent towards our heritage and we must align our means and measures along nationalistic lines to arrive at our cherished destination of national fulfilment.

This tendency to scoff at everything that has come down to us as our spiritual legacy we must assiduously avoid. Out of unbounded patriotism and a genuine sense of national belonging will come the enthusiasm to build our future as a nation.

Adherence to alien ideology that has not sprung up from the soil of India will not lead to the realisation of our national aspirations in the fullest and we must derive our inspiration from the pristine principles of the Vedanta which speaks of the glory of the indestructible human soul and of the essential divinity of man, nay, of all of sentience.

In the sages and the saints of India, in the savants and philosopher kings of India we must seek our spiritual sustenance and not in proselytising religions thrust on us through invasion that are exclusive, intolerant and fanatically violent in nature. The rest of the ideologies that have made India their habitat from alien lands and peoples, we must absorb the best principles of these and incorporate them into our universal Sanatan Dharma to the extent it is possible, leaving the discordant notes in the outer chambers of the grand national mansion to die their natural deaths inevitably with the passage of time. In this there must be no animosity towards any but we must pursue in a single-minded manner the aims and objectives of hoary India handed down to us from antiquity.

This then is the kernel of what we ought to do. We must strengthen our wills and make of our united wills a massive dynamo for the generation of a mighty national current of advancing civilisation.

Vande Mataram ! Jai Hind !
