IN THE AMPHITHEATRE OF THE HIGH HEAVENS

IN THE AMPHITHEATRE OF THE HIGH HEAVENS

Dawn breaks upon the eastern horizon and my life breaks into action.

The alternate layers of black and white light up the clouds, so symptomatic of life itself. The clouds rumble and it seems the gods send tidings from their not so distant habitat.

The sky now darkens as it drizzles and the theatre shifts to the high heavens with its light and shade and rolling rumble sending thrills across the audience seated in the galleries even as the actors take turns at the entrances, entertainment and exits.

The flashes and the rumbles lend light and sound to this spectacle that must have like inspired a Kalidasa to have penned the Meghaduta.

The sky now clears but its pale visage sends signs of a damp and murky morn brewing in the womb of the awakening day.
