Deep thinking is increasingly becoming a thing of the past. What obtains today, more often than not, is the superficial froth of the shallow mind masquerading as the scholar. And the gibberish preached is fodder for the cattle they cater to. And what a herd it is !
Pondering deep is a habit of bygone days, now archival property of sorts. The shallower you are, the greater the numbers that gather round you. Cater to their superstitions and fancies, and you have a following that distinguishes you from the commoner but essentially marks you as Major Fool, leading the majority of unthinking minor fools.
Culture has, thus, plummeted. It is declining steeply and will continue to trace its downward curve till it reaches its nadir. And this today is popular scholarship, scholasticism, the academic culture, call it what you will. There is no way out and things will only worsen as education proliferates and the academic mean declines.
