SWAMI VIVEKANANDA -- HIS LIFE AND LEGACY ... 5

SWAMI VIVEKANANDA -- HIS LIFE AND LEGACY ... 5

Even as a boy Narendranath had an investigative mind. He would test out things and accept them only if they passed his scrutiny. One day he smoked from the different hubble-bubbles kept in his father's study for his clients of different castes and communities to test if he thereby lost his caste or not. When caught in the act by his father, he confessed the motive that had impelled him to it and his wise father, instead of chastising him, was rather pleased with his son's sincere and rational approach to life. Well, Narendra also was assured that caste could not be lost by such flimsy external touch of objects that had been used by people belonging to other castes or communities.
