The next time Narendra visited Dakshineshwar, the old man took him to the neighbouring garden-house of Jadu Mallick. Narendra remained vigilant this time to avoid his former predicament. But it was to no avail. Ramakrishna suddenly surprised him with a touch that sent him into a deep sleep, so to say, when he plumbed the depths of his consciousness to answer certain queries of the old man regarding his identity and mission on earth. The sage satisfied, he brought the lad to normalcy again with his magic touch.
