Sugata Bose : I am undecided about it (whether Gumnami Baba was/is Netaji) but am reading more and more to be able to hopefully get an insight into it that I may come to a definite conclusion. As of now, things seem a bit baffling, for there are contrary claims about the entire saga and not much definite evidence on the side of any party that may be called 'legally clinching'. There are loopholes in the arguments afforded by many a supposed scholar and researcher and too much that goes by assertion on the basis of partisan emotionalism rather than concrete evidence.
The veracity of a proposition on the basis of lack of evidence to the contrary that may disprove it is flawed in terms of fundamental assumption. This is often the position taken up by proponents of Netaji being yet alive at the age of 121 and more and immersed in spiritual practice in the high Himalayas whence he will return in the fullness of time to lead the country and suppressed humanity to freedom, a proposition which is flawed in this sense other than it being realistically improbable. These and several other propositions have their respective adherents and all these need careful study for the personality involved is purportedly Netaji by their claims and deserve no less.
My individual clarity is slowly dawning but it is a confusing mass of data and myth through the labyrinth of which one must traverse unto truth. As and when I get glimpses into the truth through the foggy atmosphere of preconceptions, new findings and inferences baffling thereof, I will keep posting my dawning knowledge as I have been wont to doing all this while. You, my reader, also keep yourself posted on this mystery that has befuddled the world beyond anything previously or thence encountered.
