IN DEFENCE OF THE RAMAKRISHNA MISSION ... 2
Swami Vivekananda had delivered his historic inaugural Chicago address on 11 September, 1893 and so inaugurated a new age for humanity whose cherished ideals would be harmony and peace and unity despite diversity of creeds and cultures across the distinctive terrain of the world. That on the occasion of the commemoration of such an epic event in its 125th anniversary political murkiness should surface is unfortunate indeed. I was not privy to the proceedings at Belur Math on the said day (11 September, 2018) to be able to draw data at first-hand regarding this incongruous turn out of events thereafter and, hence, cannot vouch that all that I write on the basis of my feeble garnering of information, incomplete as it is, will be inviolable in terms of real and inferential truth. These are my meditations on the matter and my delayed but detailed and developing response as a devotee, a citizen, a seeker of truth and an upholder of all that is good and glorious in our country, be it an individual or an institution, as the case may be. As such, my respectful salutations I send to all who may be sitting on opposite fences of this raging controversy.
