WHAT WE NEED AS A NATION

We must be disciplined as a nation, educated and well-cultured. We must cultivate the sattva and the rajas to be able to overcome our foes. Above all, as Swamiji said, we must be manly.

It is strength alone that can sustain our nation. Upon the cultivation of strength depends the future survival of our civilisation. Hence, be strong and contribute to the well-being of the motherland in every possible way so as to make her invincible, especially in this perilous period of her history when she is surrounded by unfriendly neighbours that threaten to destroy her.

We must flood our motherland with intense fellow-feeling and a virility that abjures weakness of all kinds. For this national purity and concentration will have to be built. An all-embracing spiritualism and not merely a heartless intellectualism is the need of the hour.

Barbarians at the border must be checked. But for this our domestic barbarism must be eliminated and our polity cleansed of evil elements that debilitate our nation. There must be a martial discipline in our people and this requires training.
