REMEMBERING GOKHALE

If Bengal is to show the way to India again, she must relocate herself by shifting her position from her current cultural quagmire and fixing firmly in the fiery spirit of renunciation as embodied in Ramakrishna-Vivekananda. Character formed and the spirit raised, Bengal will rise luminous again to lead.

But it must be the message of the masters, the divine duo of Ramakrishna-Vivekananda, which must form the fabric of this renaissance. Else, this soft, jellyfish cultural existence will continue for a while till all is peace in extinction.

The present surrender of Bengal to the senses is her legacy from the past which has gained its strength in growing weakness over the past three generations and has now reached its nadir where there will either be a rise to strength in rejection of this debilitating trend or an annihilation of a race that has gone against the spirit of absolute renunciation which is the heritage of eternal India and to which all of India must take recourse to for their organic survival.
