MODERATING THE CULTURAL DISCOURSE

MODERATING THE CULTURAL DISCOURSE
The mind is buffeted by the cross-currents of fanaticism as is existent in mainstream media and in social media as well. It is difficult to maintain a semblance of sanity and allow humanity to override extreme differences of opinion coming from the ends of the cultural spectrum. The overload of market opinion where little learning prevails in numbers and derails social discussion is abhorrent and urges one to seek solace in self-seclusion either in the Spirit or in classic cultural isolation.
But that would be running away from the mainstream mischievous discourse and that ought not to be. We must stay on to highlight pertinent past points of our culture and moderate discussion in the bid to civilise society better. But for that we must ourselves be cultured and not stupidly bigoted with its barren offspring as our legacy to posterity. We must not be liberal fanatics for a turn, if at all such a contradiction in terms makes sense. Ours must be to seek spiritual and cultural enlightenment and the dissemination and diffusion of such culture in the world at large if we are sincere aspirants to promoting the high virtues we so eloquently speak of and often vainly preach.
