ALAS !

Even in the best of spiritual institutions commerce is creeping in through the backdoor of 'sold' sacramental food (donation being brazenly asked for as a precondition to getting a prasad-coupon) and paid-for use of the toilet. Gun salute and political speeches have sullied the sanctity of the premises. The Lord rests in patient indignation for He is committed to stay and clear up the dross that earthly desires have piled up in the name of piety.

A great deal of good work is also going on but the ideals are being lowered and goodwill lost for good. It is a terrible damage that needs addressing, a breach that needs filling with our offered bodies as sacrifice unto the cause and not by mere denunciation from a distance.

Upon our spirituality now depends the well-being of our cherished organisation ; upon our real goodness and strength in rejection of the raw compromises with money and power that are being made lies the future sustenance of the high tradition thus far built up by the martyrdom of the great spirits of the Order of the Lord.
