IMPROVE YOUR OWN SELF IF YOU WISH TO IMPROVE THE FORTUNES OF YOUR NATION

We have to be more active as a nation. The common man is full of tamas, even the well-educated ones. It seems those that clamour most are the worst off in this regard and to that effect I hold myself culpable as well, in case anyone is tempted to lay the blame equally on me. For such a one I say, brother, you have offered me decent accommodation in your sinking boat. Now should the vessel sink, let us sink together. Hence, I make no exception of myself in this regard and pretend that I am above all this cacophony or venturing with the keypad to highlight issues that affect all of us.

But there is something called robust resistance offered, commitment shown to arresting the sinking fortunes of our nation, and there is the other indolent way available where insincerity abounds and people while away their time playing the dice-game with the fortunes of the nation by remaining passive bystanders to its sinking fortunes. Here we have work to do and I have thus far failed in eliciting any response whatsoever from my readers.

This inertia of Indians even today, seven decades after independence, brings to sharp focus why a handful of Britishers could manage to kick us into submission and make our hands strike at our own fortunes deathblows to strengthen alien control in colonial conspiracy that reduced us to rubble in two centuries of dastardly rule.

We are cursed, cursed indeed, for we are slaves who enjoy merely petty bickering and no more. All our tall talk of nation-building is bosh. We are yet to graduate into becoming a decent polity that can constructively think, and act in a cooperative and coordinated manner which is but the fundamental feature of the combination required for nation-building.

We are ignoramuses exhibiting indignation against real and imaginary injustices but care not to refine our faculties through better education and knowledge which will help quicken our consciousness to such perceived and actual perfidies perpetrated by the powers that be and also allow us the understanding as to how best to improve our fortunes. So, let us be more active in self-improvement before we attempt to alter the fortunes of our nation in an enlightened way.
