WHY WE FAIL TO BE INSPIRED BY THE SPOKEN WORD

WHY WE FAIL TO BE INSPIRED BY THE SPOKEN WORD

The inability to inspire spirituality in others by means of public lecture despite being a monastic preacher stems from the fact that the speaker is himself not convinced, right to his marrow, about what he is preaching, for he is devoid of the realisation of the Truth that is the core content of his words and the sine qua non for inspirational speech. This is a major disappointment that one faces when listening to lectures that are throat-based and do not spring from the inner reservoirs of a deep spirituality that becomes palpable during delivery of the words and enraptures the audience, lifting it to a rarefied realm far above the compromised humdrum of routine existence. Such speakers who carry the commission of the Lord are rare and enlighten the audience with the delights of the deep and transform lives with words forged red-hot in the furnace of the soul. These men of spiritual might never compromise with 'aught of earth' [courtesy, Vivekananda] which makes their words have telling effect on the audience.
