WHERE PRINCIPLE DESCENDS TO PRACTISED TERMS AND PRACTICE ASCENDS TO REACH IT

Freedom consists in respecting another. After all it is your own self in another guise who you accord such respect. This is in line with classical Indian spiritual thinking but is sadly lacking in common behaviour in the social plane.

The principles of the books must be brought to practice in everyday life. Only then they gain validity beyond being abstract principles of summit realisations. Our social life must be modelled on the high philosophy that is the backbone of our spiritual living. A divorce between the two has thus far been the case and it was Vivekananda who in thunderous terms pointed out this lacuna in our social living. Time it is when we must address this issue and bring our own lives to bear out the harmony between the principle and its practice. In this and this alone, this great reverence for each other that we will show in human interaction, in our social discourse, in our sphere of work, in every field of activity and endeavour, lies the germ of our future development as a nation.
