IN RESPONSE TO A VALID POINT RAISED BY A FACEBOOK FRIEND AS TO WHETHER THE PREMIER HINDU ORGANISATIONS VERBALLY ATTACKED BY THE CHIEF MINISTER NEED TO BUCK UP AND STAND STRONGER WITH HINDUS AFFLICTED BY ADVERSARIAL ELEMENTS

They are doing what they can and have been doing yeoman service at that for over a century. But enough is never enough when politicians keep roughing up things and do not root out the evil elements that beset society. On the contrary, to serve their selfish interests, they target the Hindus. I understand what you are hinting at, so far as I get it. It is the above-the-board attitude, almost in apathetic aloofness, that Ramakrishna Mission maintains more and less in regard to atrocities on Hindus by the Muslims, following their principle of staying scrupulously apolitical as per the injunction of Swamiji on them. Bharat Sevashram Sangha and ISKCON cannot be faulted in this regard, though, as they are pronouncedly Hindu in temper and activity with no holds barred, especially the former (BSS) which from its days of inception has been an order of monks whose stated objective has been the integration and defence of the Hindu community against all forms of non-Hindu ideological and real attacks. Post the court case of the Ramakrishna Mission seeking non-Hindu minority status in the 1980s, the organisation's Hindu-credibility in the minds of many has been severely dented, especially in light of the fact that they are apparently too eager to protect their institutional interests above the overall interests of the Hindu polity. On this point the Mission has sadly strayed from Swamiji's ideals and, consequently, is paying the price for it which one hopes will not heavily alienate the Hindu polity from it in the long run as history turns on a new leaf. Yes, I do agree with you that a more aggressive stance needs to be maintained by the Mission on behalf of the Hindus but it seems they have shut shop in this regard, seemingly straitjacketed by Swamiji's injunction which, to my mind, may yet be followed while defending and providing the Hindus with the leading light which as the premier Hindu organsation one would imagine the Ramakrishna Mission would naturally be obligated to render. Alas! 🕉
