Hindus were subjected during the long Islamic rule in India and our independence lost long before the Europeans colonised our country. Subjugation of merely two centuries is a myth that needs to be intellectually countered if we are to arrive at a correct understanding of our pulverised past. From Muhammad Bin Qasim to Mahmud of Ghazni, from Allauddin Khilji to Aurangzeb Alamgir, from Taimur Lang to Ahmad Shah Durrani, and from Muhammad Ghori to Muhammad Ali Jinnah there has been an endless series of onslaughts which the Hindus have faced from which they are yet to recover. Therefore, to suppress this narrative of Islamic intolerance in India for over 1300 years and only to highlight British colonisation does history harm and it is time to take an objective view of both in our bid to comprehend our country's conquered and colonised past.
