MY COUNTRYMEN, IMBIBE THE MARTIAL SPIRIT
The martial spirit must be imbibed by all Indians, that of absolute loyalty to the state. The state must be supreme in the public sphere and in the collective life of the citizens. Religion must be relegated to the private space and must play no role whatsoever in the determining of one's duty to the nation. If religious loyalty places one in opposition to loyalty to the nation, it will tantamount to treason.
We are at a most critical juncture in our national life when Islamism is threatening to strike roots in India everywhere and the result is the growing radicalisation of a number of misguided youths to the detriment of the nation. This must be countered ideologically and on the basis of robust nationalism where a citizen is first and foremost an Indian and then only an affiliate to his/her personal ideology or belief.
Pakistan is attempting to whip up Islamist passions within India and must not be allowed to succeed in this dark design. We are a nation of multiple religious affiliations and multiple linguistic and cultural traditions, and the unifying link in all of us is our nationhood which binds us a single people irrespective of minor surface differences of attitudes and approaches to life. But deep within we are a single people and our allegiance is to our nation. There we must remain always united and in it shall lie our strength. Pakistan must be defeated in its every despicable design that threatens to disrupt this solidarity of our nationhood. Jai Hind !
