AN OPEN LETTER TO ONE AND ALL (NETAJI GROUP)
-------------------------- ------------------------------------------------
Dear members,
I have of late been notified by complaining members that some unseemly, unsubstantiated theories about Netaji's disappearance have been appearing in the comment box to posts, which are not to the complainants' liking. I have been exhorted by such complainants to take action against these errant members.
THE SCOPE OF THE DISCOURSE
-------------------------- ----------------------
At the outset let me clarify that all theories are welcome here on this group page provided they are substantiated with documentary evidence and source references. This page is open to the publication of all such researched material that may throw light on the life and career of Netaji, both anterior and posterior to his disappearance on 18 August, 1945. However, considering the fact that all members are not scholars and have but a limited reach in both access to data and understanding thereof, I take the liberty to allow them to freely express their considered and considerate views as opposed to wild fanatical assertions to suit their particular political persuasions. This, I believe, is well within the norms of civilised and democratic discourse and ought not to upset any save the fanatical fringe members at the other extremity.
POINTS TO REMEMBER
-------------------------- ---------
A few points I, hereby, jot down that may be followed as guidelines in discourse, deliberation and debate to allow the civilised free flow of thought without being culpable to the offence of being terribly irreverent to Netaji and the heroes of the freedom struggle. They are as follows :
1. Argue your points rationally, citing evidence wherever you can, and without indulging in expletives.
2. Let tolerance and civility prevail.
3. There is room for all opinions here and all shades of theories about Netaji's post-disappearance whereabouts and possible identity.
4. But there is no room for fanaticism of any kind by even the most ardent devotee of the hero.
5. Study, research, investigate, analyse and write down your views in the form of comments, write-ups and well-furnished essays. If you can, do give the source of your information for others to check out the facts as well.
6. Overall, it must be remembered that the language used to describe the heroes of the freedom struggle on this page must be consistent with their supreme stature and anything that is tantamount to sourly disrespecting them will not be entertained beyond a reasonable degree of liberal toleration.
7. The same principle applies to member interactions as well where verbal foulness will be deemed as casting its dark shadow and sullying this page unduly. Hence, desist from lowly invective hurled at each other and strive to maintain the sanctity of this group page.
Thanking you,
Yours in the motherland,
Sugata Bose (administrator).
