REMEMBER THE REVOLUTIONARIES ... 6

REMEMBER THE REVOLUTIONARIES ... 6

So many traitors betrayed the revolutionaries to the British police and so many traitors still exist in the nation who wish this nation's disintegration. The traitorous tale and the same old narrative features endlessly. It seems these elements will never be rooted out quite so fast despite so many losses, so many reverses we have suffered at their hands historically, beginning with Mir Jaffer at Plassey and not quite ending with Jinnah at the time of Partition.

But there were these valiant women who did more for the motherland than is remembered and it is time that we start reading about them and contemplate their sacrifices for the nation. Where many men turned out to be informers and apporvers who betrayed the revolutionary cause, these women helped the revolutionaries accomplish their daring tasks and even themselves led the revolutionary engagements from the front. Three such were Durgawati Devi, known among the HSRA as Durga Bhabi, who was the wife of revolutionary Bhagwati Charan Vohra, Pritilata Waddedar and Kalpana Dutta, the latter two of the IRA of Masterda Surjya Sen.
