STRENGTH, THE WAY AHEAD

STRENGTH, THE WAY AHEAD

Death shows its ugly face everywhere, yet, the infatuation with life continues. It is valour and wisdom and restraint that conquers eventually before the ugly face of it all reappears, for this is the recurring theme of Maya. There is no hope of containing the tree of evil from dispersing fresh seeds for further fruition of evil unless the very tree of original evil withers and dies. Such is the hold of malefic ideology on the minds of people.

But why do these ideologies sprout and how do they eventually die? You see the world is a variegated lot and has its roots in original differentiation, both is spacial terms and in attributes. The concentration of consciousness is not uniform everywhere and overtime, through the course of evolution, this builds up into significant differences of perspectives, approaches and impulses even among the different sections of humanity. Geographical differences aid this process of separation of attitudes and attributes and impulses further, and the result is what we see in the historical process, the drama of conflicting forces battling out senselessly for supremacy and domination.

The dialectical process is on. The conflict of forces is everywhere, trying to resolve out violent solutions in a blind way and creating conditions unfit for civilised living. But these are outer manifestations of deep-seated problems and need deeper solutions rather than quick reactions by way of vengeful offensives that will lead to a cyclical series of aggression and counter-aggression. Patience and strength -- these are the watchwords.

We must strengthen our nation through the spread of education and arm our armed forces better. Governmental foreign policy needs to be consistent in regard to enemy countries and the character of the polity needs to be built. Politicians must not be allowed to play with people's fortunes and need to be checked in their corrupt designs to loot the nation in alliance with industrialists. Overall, the character of the people needs to be upgraded if we are to emerge a stronger nation whose very presence will be potent enough to prevent dastardly acts by evil neighbours.

This does not mean that the government and the army must sit still watching carnage as it happens and must abstain from adopting the tactical measures. What is being meant is that, along with such immediate tactical measures, certain long-term measures of national strengthening need to be implemented as well. In the former adoption the ordinary person like you and me have no role to play in general but in the latter implementation, we have seminal roles to play and we must contribute our due share.

Should military training of sorts be imparted to students both at the school and the college and university levels? Well, Netaji had wished that it should be so, that the whole nation ought to be taught basic military skills to inculcate in the people fundamental discipline and valour. But along with it, I say, Sanskrit should be taught right from childhood to make the children of India aware of their spiritual and cultural heritage. The national history should be rewritten along researched lines of objective truth but from a national perspective so that the children of this country get to know the true history of their forefathers and feel proud to serve and sacrifice for the motherland. No amount of political interference may stand in the way of this self-discovery in an age when the internet prevents suppression of data like before.

Strength is the only means of countering evil and in this strengthening of the nation every citizen has a role to play. Today's problems have seeds in the medieval past that led to Partition, they have seeds in the colonial past that led to Partition and they have seeds in our nation's historical past of deprivation of the masses which led to such weakening of the nation that it repeatedly fell prey to foreign aggression whose corruption continues even today. Weakness induced thus must be counteracted with strength and the way ahead is that of kshatriya valour in the line of our ancient thought. Thus, all that is good and great in our national culture of warfare and its ethics must be deeply studied and the nation must be built upon these principles for its longtime survival and triumph.

We cannot allow the loss of the lives of our countrymen like this to go unheeded and we must resolve in our personal lives to make adjustments by way of rendering worthwhile service to the nation. May each one of us strengthen our characters and the combined force will preserve the nation.
