Soft liberalism will never win over roguish fanaticism. Aggressive confrontation is necessary by way of resistance. Else, the dark ages will dawn soon, for mass enlightenment is as yet far away.
But such confrontation must be ideological, based on the principles of scientific thinking and democracy of thought and never quite motivated by the political replacement of one set of beliefs with another, for all are equally pernicious when foisted on the gullible masses.
Universal scientific education is the key to training the whole of the human race in evidence-based acceptance or rejection of ideas that are preached in the public space as truths, absolute and inviolable, and carried thereon into the private space at homes, but that is a far cry as yet on account of unequal socioeconomic and cultural development of the different peoples of the world. Till then the resistance must continue to all forms of irrational beliefs everywhere, especially in the domain of the two most intolerant and exclusive proselytising Semitic religions, Christianity and Islam, that are motivated to gaining control over the whole human race and the governance of human life in accordance with scriptural injunctions of medieval times. Either we resist today and rescue humanity from the thraldom of these toxic faiths or we perish on the morrow when fanatics will have won their way and have succeeded in forcing mass submission to their malefic God and his mercies.
Liberals, wake up to the threat to your own existence and assume a robustness in resistance to roguish religion from here on. In it lies human salvation here in life itself in free living and not in some assumed celestial space hereafter when death has benumbed sensations.
No one has the right to deny human freedom which is the fundamental call of life and, liberals, you as spokespersons for the enlightenment and the renaissance of humanity from the shackles of medieval monstrosities, ought to take up cudgels for the cause of the preservation of human freedom in a mightier way instead of offering apologies on behalf of fanatics who have chosen to make human life their plaything.
