WHY 'AKBAR THE GREAT'? GREATER BY FAR IS MAHARANA PRATAP

Why is Akbar gloried as 'Akbar the Great'? He was out and out a ruthless expansionist. Instead, greatness shone in his valiant adversary, Maharana Pratap Singh, who fought the Mughal till his last breath to recover all his lost territory but his capital city, Chittor, and kept the banner of the dharma flying high. Such a soul that the Maharana was, sublime in sacrifice and undying in the fighting spirit characteristic of the Rajput kshatriya, should be held up before our growing generations as the model of patriotism and selfless living for the defence of the motherland against alien aggressors. Bande Mataram!
