Genuine patriots never think that way. They are karma yogis who do not expect return of any sort for their labour of love save that of the well-being of the motherland, and such a well-being is sure to come in the fullness of time. At any rate, the ideal that they have upheld before future generations is bound to bear fruit in kindred souls just as it had in them who had sacrificed their all for us.
Commoners like us seek immediate result of our actions and fail to see beyond the times to a brighter morrow, for we are shortsighted in our selfishness and, so, stunted in our aspirations. Basanta Biswas, Khudiram, Kartar Singh Sarabha and other young eagles of the freedom movement who were martyred in bloom have freshened the soil of our motherland with their blood and laid the foundations for a future polity to spring anew to build the edifice thereof. Thus shall Mother India arise from the dust of her decimation to the heights of her future glory. And Basanta Biswas will have inspired millions to bring about this transformation. Therein lies his glory in the future narrative and therein lies his glory in the past sacrifice which in the present we must honour and not make light of in any way.
