WORK, THE PANACEA FOR ALL EVILS

WORK, THE PANACEA FOR ALL EVILS

People need to be responsible enough to live by their commitment to truth. The vast number of people are weak-willed and irresolute, though, and do not abide by the word given. The national will, thus, weakens and national performance slackens.

The collective national output is the resolution of individual outputs. As such we must work relentlessly for national efficiency. A vast country like India cannot afford loss of work through (a) indolence (b) lack of infrastructure that can accommodate greater amount of input work (c) enforced abstinence from work by the declaration of strikes, bandhs and the like. 1.3 billion people cannot subsist on air. Thus, a constancy of labour by one and all alone can help lift this country out of poverty, inefficiency and want.

We have the grand example of our illustrious forefathers who, as it were, worked their way to death for national and world welfare. Vivekananda, Tagore, Gandhi, Netaji and Rash Behari Bose are but a few extreme examples of it who were karma yogis completely dedicated to the cause of national and international redemption from the thraldom of ignorance, misery and that worst vice of all, slavery to exploitative races. We have only to study their lives in depth and imbibe their attributes before we execute them in terms of affirmative action for the amelioration of human misery everywhere, to begin with, in India.

Human frailties are but natural and nothing works magically in a perfect manner. The world we live in is full of contradictions, chaotic conditions often which it is our task to straighten and simplify, for the riddle is there only to be solved and not cribbed about. This world of ours, despite its conditional constraints, offers us the best balance of forces for evolution to be expedited. As such we must make fullest use of the available opportunities and work our way towards a brighter future for all. No labour goes in vain if even in the most meagre quantity fed into the system. It will resolve out to produce some amount of useful output provided the intent be good and the work done is in consonance with law and the spirit of human welfare.
