AUTHORITARIAN NETAJI ?

AUTHORITARIAN NETAJI ?

Netaji is so often wrongly labelled as an authoritarian, dictatorial leader with a hunger for power that had degenerated him into an unapologetic fascist towards the end of his political career overseas. Well, nothing can be farther from the truth. Netaji had lifelong remained an ardent democrat with socialist leanings but with declared aspirations towards disciplining his fellow countrymen with a modicum of force, if necessary, so that India would emerge quickly a strong modern nation with the ability to survive well in a hostile world ruled by realpolitik and strong arm measures, courtesy the modern military machinery aiding global governance by the major world powers. That much for his alleged dictatorial streak, a trait frequently averred by his opponents to their advantage but amounting to nothing substantial concerning the premier people's man that Netaji preeminently was.

Jai Hind !
