THE COMMONWEALTH CONUNDRUM

Read and reflect and you will realise your true status if you are imagining that you are a free citizen of a free nation. Who is your sovereign? You yourself, as an element of the people of India, or the Queen of England who apparently does not need a visa to visit India and can simply walk in to her own territory as such? Did we get independence on 26 January, 1950 when we declared ourselves to be a republic or are we still a dependent dominion of the British Empire in secret with its dominance in some oblique way stretching yet to our lands and our seas? I seek legal opinion in this matter from any who may be having that expertise here so that I may arrive at my conclusions then as to this contentious matter which has befuddled us all for long.
