The world is yet to be civilised. So long as self-interest dictates action, deeds are dastardly and culture cruel. Civilisation is then a far cry.
While the millions go hungry, the destitute adorn the sidewalks and men like worms live their despicable lives in material misery, how on earth can we claim that we are any better than civilised savages who prey on each other to fulfil their animal mandate?
Ages have passed, wild forests have been replaced by urban jungles and, yet, the old order of predator-prey relation continues in all its naked barbarism with no sign of abating. It seems it will take millenia for men to grow out of this gross mould and assume a higher spiritual order where animal relations will have been replaced by a humanity that sees itself reflected in all as its own self and seeks to embrace all in a union that defies the divisive order of the day.
Till then let us fight on to usher in that brighter morn when the first rays of the sun shall seek its rainbow reflection off the walls of the first dewdrop moistening the early flora. May my sisters and brothers bless each other and work harmoniously for the advent of such a luminous day !
