WHAT A SHAME!

WHAT A SHAME!

What a shame that there are so many as yet who would want to bury the truth about Netaji post-disappearance and yet claim that they are thus honouring the iconic leader ! It seems Netaji's stars somehow draw endless intrigues on him. Else, from his days in the Congress to his post-disappearance phase even till this day, the conspiracies hatched against him know no end.

One hardly sees anybody genuinely interested in the unravelling of the truth without fear or favour, commission or omission, compromise or collusion tainting such effort. Netaji, as Keshab Bhattacherjee rightly alludes to in his magnum opus, 'চক্রব্যূহে নেতাজী' ('Chakrabyuhey Netaji'), has been caught inside the wheel-like military formation, surrounded by enemies on all sides, and is battling to emerge free from its impregnable walls. But the author assures us that the hero, unlike Abhimanyu, will not fail to penetrate his way out of the wheel and therein lies the hope.

But it baffles one to behold such an overwhelming betrayal of the leader by all and sundry, by whosoever has had any proximity to him by whatsoever relation, then or now. Is Netaji such a milch cow that, like in bygone decades, even today his legacy, instead of being duly upheld and followed, is milked for purposes profane with each party censuring the other for such perfidy? One wonders.
