MAN AND HIS MISSION ... 9

MAN AND HIS MISSION ... 9
So long as Hindus keep absorbing the best elements of every faith and keep assimilating them in the vast body of the Sanatan Dharma without losing self-identity, the religion of the Vedas will stand unshaken amidst the vicissitudes of the times. However, this can only be done by the great Acharyas who appear from time to time to revitalise the Sanatan Dharma in its applied form. This is no mean task and is not the plaything of puerile children to engage in. For the latter the best discipline is the serious study of the dharma.
We need but a practising polity and not merely a verbose one preaching patriotic adherence to the dharma from the hollowness of the heart. What we need is substance more than shouting, for the former can stand the sternest tests in times of trial whereas the latter exhibits a cowardly shirking of the divine duty of defence of the dharma when the hour of horror arrives in the form of tyrannical oppression of the race by alien invaders trampling upon the dharma. We must, therefore, be practising Hindus instead of nominal ones with little knowledge of theory and almost no experience of the spiritual principles in the divine chamber of the heart. With purity and practice will come strength which will sustain the race and its spiritual culture. There is no other way.
