Freedom that is earned by rising to the level of independence brings invincible strength to the freed nation. Freedom that is gifted to it by the colonising imperial power of erstwhile exploitation remains a slavery of sorts, both to the former master and to the new agencies of national exploitation. Such a predicament faced India in 1947 and such has been its consequence in the seven decades and more since then. It is time to ponder deep on this aspect and adopt the corrective measures to undo the damage done thus far and to prevent any prospective peril in the path of our progressive journey as a people.
