MY MOTHERLAND ... 13

MY MOTHERLAND ... 13

To organise Hindu society along the RSS line could prove detrimental to the fluid structure of age-old Hindu society. It might only prove helpful in the short run to garner Hindu votes and swing the BJP repeatedly to power. But, eventually, it will prove to be a decadent move, one that will stifle creative thinking among the Hindus which will then usher in the inevitable rot in society. Thus, regimentation of any sort on a national scale of the way of living and the mode of thinking of a billion and more Hindus will be a terribly regressive step and, despite the temporary electoral gains and its concomitant accrued benefits of pushing in with programmes of the redressing of certain historical injustices suffered, will in the final analysis be the deathblow to the growth of Hindu society in cultural terms of all shades.

Deep reflection must go into the essential character of the Sanatan Dharma and this can and must be done by enlightened Hindus as opposed to the rank and file of the adherents of the Hindutva cause who are by constitution and conviction opposed to any such philosophical pondering on the possible miscarriage of the Hindutva agenda in relation to the glorious emergence of future India. Here we must seek the guidance of sages like Swami Vivekananda and Sri Aurobindo and try and discover what their intents and aspirations were for future India. We must in an unbiased manner either way study these leading lights of modern India and draw our conclusions only then about what will be good for the future of our country. Once we have made our inferences, we may safely draft our resolutions, chalk out our action programmes and lead our nation accordingly through the corridors of time. But we must be true to the directions we receive from these two seminal sages in Vivekananda and Aurobindo and must, in adherence to their universal inclusive philosophy, draw up our agenda for the future. No other authority ought to guide us in this regard even if they are from the RSS or any of its affiliates.
