MY MOTHERLAND ... 12

MY MOTHERLAND ... 12

Ought not the Sikh, the Buddhist and the Jain traditions to be considered as belonging to the greater Hindu tradition despite their few fundamental philosophical differences with the perennial philosophy of the Vedas? After all they all sprang from the eternal source of the Vedas even in their differences with it. If we can manage to integrate all the dharma traditions of India, it will be a great boost to each one of them and their combined might will be a great power for good in a world torn by religious fanatical violence stemming from the Abrahamic tradition.

It is important to hold inter-faith dialogues between the Hindus, the Sikhs, the Buddhists and the Jains more than with the Christians and the Muslims who are exclusive in their religious thinking. Such inter-faith dialogues will for sure bring the dharma traditions of India closer to each other as opposed to the failed attempts thus far of scoring a chord of harmony with Christianity and Islam which are by doctrinal compulsion incompatible with real religious harmony founded on the basis of the acceptance of every religion as true.

This concept of greater Hinduism is surely going to grip the imagination of the adherents of the aforesaid dharma traditions of Indian origin in the future and will be the cause of much mutual strength. This will empower the followers of these dharmas more and usher in a brighter religious atmosphere in the world. To that end we must strive from now on and, forgetting petty differences, must make allowances for such diversity under the umbrella of an overall cultural concord. In such integration of the major cultural components of our motherland manifest as these different dharma traditions lies the supreme good of our motherland and that of the rest of humanity as well in the final analysis. Godspeed unto it !
