MY MOTHERLAND ... 2

MY MOTHERLAND ... 2

Indulgence in verbal or physical violence cannot be construed as patriotism. It may be a sort of degenerate newfangled nationalism but it certainly cannot be condoned or accepted as the new norm for the manifestation of the aforesaid ideals.

A declining social culture is the order of the day and that is precipitating roguish behaviour in many an erstwhile apparently civilised person. This is happening owing to the circumstances that allow such behaviour to go with impunity and even in cases to merit social approbation as we see every night on prime time news by a particular channel of wide viewership where the anchor routinely goes berserk to earn television rating points in the name of righteous patriotic journalism.

That such should be the quality of national reaction to historical injustices suffered makes one wonder if one is not falling into a self-laid heretical trap in the name of countering past heresies endured. If this trend continues, we are in for a whirlpool of decadent attributes into which we shall sink, a fate which shall ruinously affect our national life for decades to come and send us along a trackless path of barren regressive recourse totally antithetical to national welfare.

One can only hope that saner voices will be heard above the din of this decadence and our country's culture restored to its pristine roots in the proper way as opposed to the perverse manner in which it is now being socially projected. A raucous mob cannot raise the country. It can only lower its energy level despite pretensions to the contrary. Hence, resist cultural decadence in the name of nationalism and serve the nation in the right spirit to help evolve its future along the glorious lines laid down ages ago by our spiritual masters.
