VIDARBHA DIES DAILY

VIDARBHA DIES DAILY

Who cares for the farmers of Vidarbha who daily terminate their lives out of extreme want? Who, indeed, cares? I know not of any that does. Neither do we hear any discussion on this human tragedy which by its recurrence has sadly become an accepted feature of our national life. Such national irresponsibility will boomerang on us in the long run. Karma will recoil.

Remember that these silent sufferers are the producers of the very crops which feed us and, yet, they themselves have not enough to subsist on such that they are driven to this extreme desperation of self-destruction. Their suicide is our sin and it is our obligation to stand in support of these hapless creatures who know not how to cope with the dire distress of their lives.

There is no room for fun and frolic as long as our own brethren die thus on account of our own negligence, on account of the terrible iniquities we have allowed to settle in our society as a permanent feature which is eating into the vitals of this nation. We must feel for these perishing poor people who are our countrymen, our own flesh and blood. We must act now.
