MY MOTHERLAND ... 15

MY MOTHERLAND ... 15

As commerce corrupts the national culture and results are all that matter, Hindus no more owe allegiance to the Geeta and their Lord who preaches non-attachment to the fruits of action, beholding success and failure with an even eye. We are now merely ritual Hindus, our philosophical selves having been dead long back. It is to arouse us from this age-old slumber that Vivekananda calls through the corridors of time and ushers us into the sanctum of our ancient culture.

It is the act that matters, executed precisely and with perfection, and not the result accruing from it. Detachment is the seed of our best labour, the fount of our culture and the foundation of our civilisation.

Lead the polity back to Krishna and his utterance enshrined in the Geeta and do away with this commercial corruption that has afflicted our society. This remains my plea, this I utter by way of brotherly love that seeks to give, careless of return, for to give we have the right, not to seek the fruit of such giving.

Awaken your spiritual selves by reading daily the Bhagavad Geeta and by application of its precepts in your fruit-ridden infertile lives. Work well but be free of expectation of result. Do not enslave your noble selves to the fetters of finite folly. Work to purify your mind-stuff, for the sake of 'chittashuddhi', so that a clarified conception of your Being may be, so that the reflection of your Self may you witness free, so that life's bonds are sundered well and you stand in your own nothingness. Then shall joy be when cause dies and effect dies, too, and work flows unimpeded, free out of causeless love for all that dreams not of finite return. Go back to the Geeta, back to Krishna and stand on your divine Self.
