LONG LIVE TASLIMA NASREEN, THE VOICE OF OPPRESSED HUMANITY !

LONG LIVE TASLIMA NASREEN, THE VOICE OF OPPRESSED HUMANITY !

In a way Taslima Nasreen's exile from Bangladesh has saved her life from the Islamic fanatics out there. That she is not allowed in West Bengal as well for the same reasons of fanaticism of Islamic clerics speaks volumes for the level of religious tolerance that exists here. God save Taslima from these fanatics, although, ironically, it must be remembered that her rational bent of mind does not allow her to repose faith in any such benevolent God whose adherents spew venom at her in the name of scripture and the subject of such, God Himself. Let us then send her our good wishes and goodwill out of our sense of sanity and sanctity born out of our essential humanity which for sure she cannot reject as archaic and obsolete and, so, invalid as well.
Our hearts and minds are with this brave woman who has withstood the might of the fanatical clerics of Islam in both Bangladesh and West Bengal who have, out of their so-called religiosity, merely bayed for her blood which has been denied them by quick action of government, not that I thereby endorse such open appeasement of these fanatical elements who have destroyed Bangladesh and are now destroying West Bengal with tacit and, more often than not, open support of the powers that be.
Taslima Nasreen stands tall among the pigmies in government in the Bengal on both sides of the border and while these perfidious politicians of the day will be cast into being footnotes in history before being sunk in oblivion, she will live forever as the harbinger of hope for the oppressed, as one of the leading feminists and humanists of the day, as the voice of the voiceless and as a solitary pilgrim carrying the torch of civilisation and progress in a darkened world of hate and blind fury. Long live Taslima ! I exhort you all to support her cause by reading her seminal works of leading and light.
