TEN MEASURES TO SPREAD HINDUISM ... 1

For Hinduism to spread throughout the world the following measures are necessary :

1. Hindus must be practising Hindus and not titular Hindus only.

2. They must have a good knowledge of their basic scriptures.

3. They must have an adequate knowledge of the Islamic and Christian scriptures.

4. Hindus must develop a global perspective regarding the spread of their religion.

5. Fraud Gurus must be exposed and great spiritual personages like Swami Vivekananda followed by the Hindu community as preceptor and leading light in their lives.

6. Organisations such as the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission and the Bharat Sevashram Sangha must be strongly supported by the Hindus. These organisations in turn must treat the laity with due respect.

7. Sikhism, Buddhism, Jainism, Brahmoism, the Arya Samaj, the Prarthana Samaj and like Indian dharma traditions must bury their theological differences and work in tandem with the aim of preserving and protecting India's spiritual heritage.

8. The evils of the caste system, or, more correctly, the 'Varna vibhajan' must be done away with and solidarity built among the Hindus on the basis of a common sympathy for each other.

9. Hindus must all aspire to be academically highly qualified and that not with the express aim of settling abroad to have a good life but with the aspiration to serve the vast body politic of the Hindus worldwide.

10. Each and every Hindu by his way of living must become an ambassador for his religion in the world. This will attract people from other religions to learn about Hinduism which in turn will arrest the nefarious growth of the fanatical proselytising religions.
