THEOLOGICAL AND IDEOLOGICAL TOTALITARIANISM ... 1

THEOLOGICAL AND IDEOLOGICAL TOTALITARIANISM ... 1

The problem of all totalitarian ideology is that they are fundamentally opposed to human freedom which is intrinsic to man and refuses repression for long. Be it political or religious, totalitarianism is bound to fail in the short or in the long run. Where the deception is better concealed and 'a pie in the sky when you die' is dangled, the system lasts longer but only so long as the rogue elements are not met squarely by enlightened humanity which must be distinguished from nationalist and industrial interest groups who tend to perpetuate the bondage of those who suffer under these totalitarian regimes in order to further their own geopolitical and commercial interests. However, the day does come when these repressive regimes and their toxic ideologies collapse and humanity emerges from its long nightmare unto the sunlit dawn of freedom.
Today, we are a humanity that is a curious and coarse mixture of modernity in science and medievalism in religion and the two are making a dangerous detonating mixture. How humanity will emerge from this terrible bind of a cruel God, His fanatical earthly representatives and inviolable violent Word enshrined in a sacred book is something sociologists may venture to prophesy on, but it must be affirmed that we are, indeed, in a terrible theological bind that enslaves a vast number of the population of the world. The solution does not lie in the world turning atheist for sure. Perhaps, the Vedanta could provide the world a solution to this seemingly intractable problem and allow humanity an escape route unto a brighter freedom.
