THE NATIONAL NEED ... 25

THE NATIONAL NEED ... 25

We must build a modern society based on traditional values. We must not be complacent about our heritage because theory, however grand, will have to be practised in order to reap its benefits. We are neither to reckon ourselves superior to others nor inferior but, in keeping with the spirit of the Kathopanishad where Nachiketa calls himself a middling soul and, hence, worthy of receiving spiritual instruction from Yama, we are to bear in mind that we are capable of handling our present problems and emerge as a modern society where the environment will be as to allow the maximum manifestation of the latent powers of our citizens. We are facing tremendous challenges but can overcome them if each one of us who are of the right mind regarding national reconstruction does our wee bit towards the fulfilment of this grand project -- the building of future India.
