125TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE 'PRABUDDHA BHARAT'
Swamiji started the 'Prabuddha Bharat' in 1896. This is 2021 when the journal is celebrating its 125th anniversary. Swamiji had wanted this magazine to propagate the message of the Sanatan Dharma in simple terms without complicating discourse with abstruse philosophy. But has the journal been maintaining that line or has it been interspersing its pieces with a fair amount of complex philosophical stuff? Another point. Has India been sufficiently awakened by it that would have satisfied Swamiji were he to be with us today? The Prime Minister as usual has delivered his standard lacklustre message in this regard which is available in the video posted by the Advaita Ashrama whose link is being provided here :
It is uninspiring to only hear lectures from the Prime Minister when what he says is common knowledge and nothing new. Better by far will be if he contributes a fair sum towards the cause of propagation of the spiritual message of the 'Prabuddha Bharat' by allowing a grant of 125 crore rupees on this occasion of the 125th anniversary of the journal. That will be far more effective in spreading the message than mere tall talk delivered without conviction. The same goes for the Swamis of the Order who deliver uninspiring and unconvincing speeches rather than fiery ones we have traditionally been used to hearing from speakers like Swami Ranganathananda, Swami Vandanananda, Swami Lokeshwarananda and Swami Atmasthananda, to cite but a few names in this regard.
