We see all political parties eulogising Ambedkar today. But he has severely criticised Gandhi in a BBC interview that is available for the whole world to hear and see Gandhi in a very poor light. How is it that no leader from Modi to Mamata, from Rahul Gandhi to Sitaram Yechury dares criticise Ambedkar for his highly charged remarks on the 'Father of the Nation' where he has exposed him as a person who was not only far from being a saint but was a person with not even a decent moral nature? Why are the leaders so silent on this issue?
The Dalits are far too many in number today for the electoral interests of these leaders not to matter. Hence, you see how from Prime Minister of India to Chief Minister of West Bengal, all are wedded to compromising wherever they need to with untruth for the simple consideration of electoral arithmetic. Let them, henceforth, not take the names of Tagore and Vivekananda and far less that of Gandhi and Ambedkar in their bid to fooling the polity with idealistic gibberish. Let the character of these leaders be formed first before they open their mouths so big as to utter what in is essence pure but purely profane when it comes out of their ill-intended, projected, pretentious idealism.
