MAN AND HIS MISSION ... 28

MAN AND HIS MISSION ... 28
THE CURSE OF CASTE OPPRESSION
So long as caste tyranny does not end and the low are raised to the level of equality with the high in real terms and not merely on paper, our nation will not rise to her true spiritual eminence despite the tallest of declarations by the Constitution and by our scriptures. The divinity of man stands opposed to such social segregation and exploitative stratification of society.
The Sanatan Dharma does not sanction privilege of one man over another and caste distinctions are completely social constructs for securing work efficiency in society. That they have naturally degenerated to produce horrible tyranny of the upper castes over the lower, reducing them to mere beasts of burden for millenia, has been the real curse for our nation and has resulted in our enslavement to foreign forces for as long, for a nation the bulk of whose population lives in savage conditions cannot find sufficient strength to repulse invasions, the people being eventually the power-house of the nation.
Now that we are free politically and the Constitution guarantees equality in civic existence, it is our bounded duty to resist caste privilege and the concomitant oppression of the lower castes. In such a conscious collective endeavour lies the possibility of attaining solidarity of the polity and strength of the nation.
